Professional Development & InfectionControl Coordinator

We’re looking for a PDC & InfectionControl Coordinator at our Silver Springs Care Center location. Currently our opening is:

  • FullTime- 40 Hours (Monday-Friday)

Our PDC & Infection Control Coordinatorsare responsible for:

  • Developingand implementing quality in-service education programs for staff, as may berequired in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Evaluatingquality impact of in-service programs, amends as required based on outcome.

  • Spendinga majority of time on the nursing units to evaluate and correct nursing care asneeded.

  • Ensuringthat the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, state & federalregulations.

  • Developing,maintaining, and periodically updating infection control precautions.

  • Interpretinginfection control policies and procedures as necessary.

  • Performingperiodic testing of facility prepared sterile packs, bundles and supplies.

  • Ensuringthat staff are implementing standard operating procedures for tasks involvingexposure to blood/body fluids.

  • Assistingin developing and implementing guidelines for the decontamination andsterilization activities performed in the facility.

  • Coachingemployees on proper nursing practices and procedures.

  • Makinghouse rounds regularly throughout the shift and consults with RN Supervisor   and Charge Nurses on education needs andinfection control practices.

  • Ensuringeducational programs are current and in line with government regulations, companypolicies and procedures, mission and goals.

  • Providingappropriate climate for learning and facilitates the adult learning process

  • Assistingadult learners to identify both their learning needs and the effective learningactivities required to meet clinical needs.                            

  • Availableto respond to clinical emergencies, regulatory agency visits, surveys andissues               outside of normalwork hours as needed; participates in on-call rotation for clinical emergenciesand other clinical/facility issues.

  • Assistingthe DNS  in on-going  training of nursing staff to support clinicalservices and to meet and exceed established clinical competency levels;monitors and assists in the training of specialty unit personnel to maintainactive competencies and/or certifications required for the specific unit.

They must also have:

  • Musthave at least 2 years of increased responsibility in a supervisory position inlong term care and/or rehabilitation facility or hospital setting or equivalentnursing education degree program.

  • Six(6) months of training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursingpractices preferred.

  • Knowledgeof epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic techniquespreferred.

  • IVCertification required.

  • Experiencewith state survey process, survey tag numbers, and quality measures preferred.
